The decision of justice wasn't very significant. The music exchange website can go on. The Court of Appeals of San Francisco, on Monday evening, didn't order the website's closure. However, it won't have the possibility to supply music files free of charge (the previous decision allowed more freedom to Napster). This was until the conclusion of the trial that opposes Napster to the American Association of the phonographic industry, the powerful RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). On the days preceding the decision, the website was absolutely busy. The Internet users were worried. However, if Napster was obliged to stop its main activity, the free exchange of music won't be over for all that. Newcomers on the market, as Aimster.com, based on AOL's instant messaging (AIM) are ready to take over with technologies even more powerful than Napster's. This is a fight that all the industrialists of the multimedia gathered at the Milia in Cannes are focusing their attention.
