After “Red Code” which has caused expenses of $2.4 billion last months to clean up servers, a new virus is spreading very quickly on the Internet since the beginning of the week. Yahoo notes that “at the moment Nimda is an untitled e-mail attached to the file “readme.exe”. It has been noticed in the United-States, in Europe and in Latin America” (see "Un nouveau virus baptisé Nimda se propage à grande vitesse"). Some supplementary details on this new virus in Multimedium. The virus is said to be more dangerous than Red Code because it infects professional servers but also personal computers. “The virus exploits an already known weakness of Microsoft’s Internet Information Server software (IIS), which is on Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems. Some patches (correcting software) can be downloaded at the address” the Reuters news, quoted by yahoo, concludes.
