Cannes: contract of Brazilian satellite for Alcatel Space

Alcatel Space has won a new contract in Latin America. The satellite manufacturer, set up in Cannes La Bocca, has signed with the Brazilian operator Star One for the realization of a new regional telecommunication satellite system towards Latin America. The Star One C1 will be build on the SpaceBus 3000B3 plat-form. The satellite will be developed in Toulouse and in Cannes for a finale integration and a departure to launching site from Cannes. The satellite will be delivered in 27 months. Star One C1 will be positioned at 67° west longitude.The satellite, the first of C-series, Ku-band, with 44 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz), will provide multimedia and high speed internet capacity to South America. According to jean-Claude Husson, the Alcatel Space CEO, "Star One is a new customer for us and we are particularly proud to help increase its satellite fleet. This export contract is also a very good opportunity for Alcatel Space in this high potential Latin American market."
