Cannes Objective 2001 : an eye on the municipal election

Cannes has already launched the campaign for the municipal elections. In the festival city, in turmoil because of affairs (around forty judicial inquiries and preliminary investigations), it is hard to assess the exact political situation. This week, l’Express focuses on it. The weekly dated from September 30th to October 6th 1999, has made along inquiry on Cannes Objective 2001.An inquiry in which there is the list of candidates : Bernard Brochand, the CEO of DDB-Needham (second advertising company in the world) and the friend of President of Republic Jacques Chirac; Charles Giscard d’Estaing, close to Michel Mouillot, the former President of Republic’s nephew, who does a great work on the ground; Gilles Cima, the current tourism deputy head, who suffers from his membership of the outgoing team; Albert Peyron , the regional adviser and opposition municipal adviser (FN) who slows down since his party blew up, etc. Not to mention what the rumour says. As Charles Pasqua risks to loose his stronghold in the Parisian region, he would in Cannes, encouraged by a score of 20% of his list during the last European elections…
