Chips: new discounts at Intel and AMD (Boursorama)
The price war continues on the worldwide market of microprocessors. After a high decrease in computers' prices at the beginning of September, new discounts were announced by the two main worldwide microprocessors manufacturers, Intel and AMD, who have been competing on prices for a few months now. Thus, Intel's brand new 2 GHz Pentium 4 decreased by 29%. There was another sensible decrease for the 1.9 GHz and 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 (-27% and -12%). The AMD challenger is not lagging behind with slump in prices for five different products, including its top range product, the Athlon XP 1800 (-12%).If both companies' profits will be affected, however, the consumer can cheer up. There should be a new decrease in computers' prices before the end of year's celebrations. See article "IT- Intel and AMD keep on lowering their prices" on Boursorama.
