Marconi accepted for the Dubai Internet City

Marconi, the British Alcatel, has just won a 550 million dollar contract over 10 years for the technological project 'Internet City' in Dubai. The telecom supplier will build and manage the telecommunications network of this 'Internet city'. The city will be built in the south of the city of Dubai, in an area of free exchange which will welcome e-commerce companies, R&D centers for computer science world groups and other firms linked to the Internet. The first implementations should begin around 2003 with the goal of reaching about 100,000 people in 15 years. Marconi which plays a part in the adventure is also in Sophia Antipolis with its e-marketing world center. A recent settlement since the center was created after the purchase of the American firm Fore System in 1999, settled on the technopole since 1998.
