In order to confirm its new positioning on proximity information and on talk-shows around subjects of everyday life, current events, economy, sports, etc., RMC modifies its name and becomes RMC info. The radio station of southern people had been bought up in January by Alain Weill, the former chief executive of NRJ Group. Since then, the latter has changed the program schedule and has clearly shown his national ambitions for RMC. According to the board, this new brand preserves the notoriety of the station while confirming the break with the past.
