Until now, Cannes hasn't been very affected yet by the crisis within the tourism sector caused by terrorist attacks of September 11th. The two big congresses in October could be held without registering a decrease in the number of contributors (-15% for the MIPCOM and -12% for Tax Free). Seminars and incentives, which particularly took place in the luxury hotels of the Croisette were though very affected with several cancellations. However, events organised in countries considered as "sensitive" finally took place in Cannes. The crisis is more particularly affecting the individual tourism sector where cancellations are far from being compensated. The information meeting of the SEMEC (Mixed economy organisation for events in Cannes) on Wednesday October 31st at 15.00 at the palais des festivals will take place in this context. Indeed, its first aim is to present the new organisation of the company, with a new management (David Lisnard as president and Martine Giuliani as general manager). Nevertheless, the presentation of the Marketing Action Plan for leisure and business, planned in the agenda of the meeting, will also attract the attention of all professionals in tourism.
