The council of the department of the Alpes-Maritimes has opposed the new text of the DTA (Directive Territoriale d’Aménagement; a national development law) during its meeting of Thursday October 25th. The majority (as the opposition has left the room after a session incident) has thought that breakthroughs could be recorded in the new State project but that they were insufficient. During the general assembly, around ten days ago, the CCI had also strongly critisized this project which defines the French Riviera of 2020. Five main critics have been stated (see the article "La CCI charge la Directive Territoriale d'Aménagement").

Among others, the Council of the department has decided not to increase the departmental tax. As far as the departmental share is concerned, the rates of the four other taxes (house, two land taxes and professional tax) will remain the same as in 2001.
