Nice and Elite’s models are in the headlines of the world web. Since August 24th with the opening of websites and until September 11th, the international final of the Elite Model Look 2001 contest will be entirely covered in streaming video. The whole world, via the Net, will thus be able to read news about models but also to watch backstage of the event and to attend live the nomination night. The site will remain accessible to surfers until the end of the year.With Microsoft’s MSN portalThe world leader of the model industry, Elite organises every year an international contest which goal is to pick up the new generation of models represented by the agency. The Elite Model Look 2001 final which gathers together the laureates of contests organised in 50 countries, will take place in Nice from next September 1st to 11th. In order to give this event a worldwide range, Elite has bet on the Net. They associated to MSN (Microsoft’s Internet portal) to offer a photographic and audiovisual coverage of the final and of the days before as well.Available since Friday on the 10 European MSN sites as well as on www.elitemodellook.com,the video contents will be composed of a daily diary, reports on candidates, the final backstage, the jury and success stories of the agency (Cindy Crawford, Inès Sastre…). The live broadcasting of the nomination night will be the summit of this original event. A retrospective of the Elite Model Look will complete these programs which will remain accessible for one year to worldwide surfers.Streaming in event communicationAs far as techniques are concerned, the French company Perfect Technologies will provide production, converting (multi-transfer rate WindowsMedia format: from 56 to 500 Ko) as well as the integration in Rich Media in the ten MSN portals of all of the audiovisual contents (a total of 120). The hosting on broadband servers and live and re-live broadcasting of these contents on Internet are provided by Perfect technologies in collaboration with Digital Island as well.Both partners have raised some exceptional technical resources because of the size of the traffic that the event should generate.
