Sophia Start-up: NTIC applied to the motor industry

Embedded data processing is on the agenda of the 22nd meeting of the club, on November 12th at the Sun City Café. During this meeting, the establishment of a contribution will also be suggested.

The 22nd meeting of the Sophia Start-up club will take place on Monday November 12th at 18.00 at the Sun City Café of Sophia Antipolis. One of the main themes of the meeting will be the presentation of new technologies applied to the motor industry. François Elzières, from Toyota's design centre, Georges Gallais from the INRIA and Régis Guiol from Escota will focus on the benefits of NTIC for cars.Representatives of start-ups will then speak: Hervé Mangeot from Kaptech, the telecommunications alternative operator and Jean Pellegrini from Texconnection, a company launched by former employees at Etexx, the textile platform which closed a few months ago. The "venture capital" review will be made by two "venture capitalists": Jens Fige from Bertelsmann Venture and Armand Sibony from Convergent Capital.However, the news of the club will also attract the attention. Dominique Pouliquen, president at Sophia Start-up, wishes to structure the association better. He also calls for contribution, in a text published on the following website: www.sophia-startup.com. He wrote:"No club without members! No members without contribution!After listing all the activities led, Dominique Pouliquen announced that the payment of a contribution would be asked (100 Euros or 656 FF for everybody, except students who can register for free). During the next meetings now, access will be restricted to members who have paid their contribution and guests only. The association, which is a symbol of the "new economy" on the French Riviera, as for many dot-coms, has to renounce to free packages…
