The SNCM super NGV (high speed ship), the 'Liamone' which was brought into service in June for sea links between Nice and Corsica was put in dry dock in Marseille for the repairing of a damage. On Friday, Sept 8th in the afternoon, in Ajaccio, and after an inspection demanded by the captain, a damage was found. A sheet was unsoldered on the stem of the ship, just above the water line. So the decision was taken not to embark passengers (they were transferred towards a competitor company ship Corsica Ferries or on the 'Corse' from the SNCM), and go to Marseille to repair the damage. The immobilization duration of the super NGV, designed to sail all year long even in winter, will be short enough since the 'Liamone' has been planned to resume the links between Nice and Corsica, from Saturday.
