CNRS in Sophia: a colloquium on research

The PERSAN group (Education and Research pole of Sophia Antipolis-Nice) is organising a colloquium on research and higher education with a special part on the Alpes- Maritimes. This event opened to the public will take place on Thursday May 10th at 4.30 PM at the CNRS (Theatre IDEFI-CNRS bâtiment 2, at 250 avenue Albert Einstein at Sophia). Among the contributors, there will be Pierre Papon, former general manager of the CNRS, president of the Observatory of sciences and techniques and Jacques de Bandt, president of PERSAN and research director at the CNRS.

French movies at the head of the box-office

It is a long time since the French cinema wasn't in such a festive atmosphere: since the beginning of the year, it is at the head of the box office. Several positions of responsibility have changed at Cannes city hall with the arrival of the new mayor, Bernard Brochand. Dust continue sur sa lancée. Après avoir restauré le film culte de Chris Marker, "La Jetée", la société sophipolitaine, spécialisée dans la restauration numérique de film, a obtenu un contrat de 7 millions de francs, auprès de Paramout pour la restauration d'autres grandes œuvres du cinéma mondial comme "Les dix commandements".

ViaNice, qui avait dû abandonner l'an dernier ses incursions sur Lyon et Toulouse, cherche sur le département une expansion plus rapprochée de sa base niçoise. Le city-guide niçois a lancé ainsi un peu avant le démarrage du Festival son ViaCannes.com, bâti sur le modèle du ViaNice. Il annonce également, dans la foulée, des ViaAntibes, ViaGrasse, ViaMenton et ViaMonaco, toujours construits sur le modèle de ViaNice. Le ViaSophia, qui doit ouvrir à compter du 14 mai, n'a pas été bâti, lui, sur un modèle éditorial.

Raymond Doumas will take over Jean-Michel Durnad as attorney at the High Court of Justice of Grasse on May 15th. The new attorney already knows the French Riviera since he was first assistant at Grasse until 1986. Jean-Michel Durand, who was in office in Grasse since 1992 has been nominated attorney at Evry. In collaboration with Didier Marshall, the president of the High Court of Justice in Grasse, he had conducted the project of the new court-house which has enabled to strengthen the place of the Grasse jurisdiction in the Alpes-Maritimes.
